We will sign them when you send them.   There are 2 competitors at the show we don’t know. One other, Famous Dave’s just had a complete management and team change. I would think they would be out to get us (Aly) since they are always aggressive and competitive. Tom Ferguson and Ray Alan Gill were both mentors to Butch and then he wound up beating them at their own game. I think there is still that competitive fire in both. Joey Sutphen and Dan Johnson would do anything to help Aly, as would Mark and Kevin although they do not know Aly as well.  Jerry Gibson’s stepson Joe is our new team manager so he would definitely be on our side.     I will let Aly know you will be sending her info about your visit to Cleveland. Until then I will keep looking for pictures and video.   Talk to you soon,   Lynne   From: Michael Sellers [mailto:mtsellers@mac.com]

Subject: Re: Thanks again!   Lynne,   Thanks for getting back to me.  I appreciate all the information.     Aly did perfect in the interview.  She followed direction very well and her answers seemed very genuine.  You also did great.  I really feel I need to take it to the next level and see her in the field.  I'd like to email her  and explain to her about visiting the Cleveland event.  I can copy you on the email.   Thank you for listing some of the "Uncles".  If you had to name a few tough competitors - who would they be?  Or maybe old rivals?  And then on the other side - do you have one of the "Uncles" that would do what ever he or she needed to do to help Aly out.   Thanks for the help on pictures and videos - anything would be great to get.   Also to note - I'll need to send you guys a release form.  I forgot to have you and Aly fill one out while I was there.  I'll attach it to a separate email soon.  The form basically says you agree to appear in the video I'm working on with no compensation as of right now.   I'll keep you guys posted as I prepare to head over to Cleveland.   Thanks again,   Michael     On May 9, 2011, at 9:58 PM, Lynne wrote:
Michael,   I am sorry I didn’t get this to you yesterday but we were too busy with Mother’s Day arrangements. I am used to being the crazy person who runs around behind the scenes so I was definitely more stressed out than Aly. She just wanted to know how she did after you left. I thought she was very composed, but maybe you were looking for more enthusiasm. That was Butch’s forte. Last night we watched the Best In Smoke on the Food Network. That was the show we were planning for all through our trip in Italy. Butch and I were one of the 6 teams chosen. It was heart wrenching to watch and I noticed only 2 good personalities of all the contestants. We can only dream about what may have been…   Anyway, the contact information you need (before answering your questions below) is:   Aly’s email address – lupinea1@gmail.com   Mark Mariorano – videographer and creator of Butch’s cooking video –markamaiorano@comcast.net,   856-371-1214 I will give him a heads up that you will be contacting him at some point.   As for Memorial Day weekend, Aly will be there from May 26th to May 31st. The event is definitely a competition. I have attached a list of awards. As you can see, Butch consistently won in at least one of the categories each year at this event. Aly has a lot of pressure on her to repeat this feat. Butch always planted a big kiss on Bernie Belkin, the promoter who hands our trophies, when he received his trophy and check. I will be interested to see what transpires if we win, since Aly is his successor. Their new website is http://www.wkyc.com/life/community/events/rib/default.aspx. Many of Aly’s BBQ “uncles” will be there.  Joey Sutphen from Texas Thunder, Tom Ferguson from Chicago BBQ, Dan Johnson from Johnsons BBQ, Ray Alan Gill from Razorbacks BBQ (the man who sold Butch his first cooking pit), Kevin and Jerry Gibson from Pigfoot BBQ and Mark Link from Uncle Bub’s. They would all be more than happy to talk with you. The competition ribs are turned in on Sunday and judging is announced on Memorial Day. You are correct, other days are just selling to the public. The event just moved to a new location this year so no one really knows what to expect. I am looking for pictures and videos. Please give me a few days and I will get them out to you.   If there is anything else you need, I am always happy to assist.   All the best for now,   Lynne     From: Michael Sellers [mailto:mtsellers@mac.com]

Subject: Thanks again!   We had a great time visiting with you!  It was very cool that you had all that food ready to go for us - it really helped out a lot with the shooting.  I'm glad Aly wasn't too freaked out.   I'm thinking of attending the Great American Rib Cook-Off in Cleveland on Memorial Day weekend.  I wanted to ask a few questions first:   -By the title of the event I'm pretty sure this is a competition event - right? -Aly will be attending? - I think we confirmed that on Saturday but just wanted to make sure. -How did Butch do at this competition is the past?  Do you have statistics from this event over the years of his wins/losses? -Any competitors I need to watch out for and maybe interview or at least be aware of? -When is the competition day?  Is it Monday on Memorial Day (the 30th)? -Would it be fair to say that other then competition day it's about cooking food for the masses the other days?  Try to figure out when to arrive.   Nicole, who you met on Saturday, and I are trying to get our plans in order to drive out to the event.  We'll keep you updated as it gets closer.  Also any of the videos you may have of Butch or even photos of Butch at events (best ones would be if Aly is in them as a kid next to him) would be great to have for the project.  If you send actual photos I can scan them and return them to you.   Thanks for the help!   Michael
